thre is a new section in this web regarding the Trusted Computing Group. Right now it only has a set of useful links, but I will include more material as my thesis develops
I have two papers published this summer. One in USENIX Security 2004 with the paper "Copilot, a Coprocessor-based Kernel Runtime Integrity Monitor". This paper explores another Hardware Intrusion Detection System, with the use of an Independent Auditor
The second paper is in MobiQuitious 2004 with the paper "Wireless Wallet". This paper explores a secure mobile payment solution
After a visit to the Cannes film festival, I have posted several interviews (in Spanish) in the web, Including interviews with Gael Garcia and to the winners of the side section Au Certain Regard, Juan Pablo Rebella and Pablos Stoll. All this articles have also been published in LaNacionUSA
With the help of some friend we have created a cultural latin portal for Washington DC: DCcultura, DC latin Cultural Portal is up in testing phase
4 months without writing...what happened to me? I went to SINGAPORE to present in ICICS'02. A digital copy of the paper can be downloaded from the springer LINK database here. I am still working part time at Fujitsu Laboratories of America, as well as finishing my Phd at umd.
soon I will make more updates, hopefully and time permitting
I have created a little VIM page. Mostly for myself, I have added a Howto replace CapsLock with ESC, and my little .vimrc, that hopefully will grow in years to come.
The MISSL lab, The lab I used to work, has appeared in the press with its new release of the LinuxBios, which is able to boot win2000...Congrats!!!
My patched version of the Spectrum24 CF supporting AP scanning can be
found here.
The original version from Pavel Roskin can be found
here
Today I tried RedHat 8.0 . Sucks. A complete log can be found here.
I sent a message to all the people I know in ISWT. Some of the emails didnt work, so if you know me and you are mad because i didnt email you, well, chances are that you are a dumbass and wrote the email wrong. So drop me a line. I dont hate you.
I am working with the Spectrum24 driver for Linux. Pavel Roskin, its maintener, has discontinued his downloading. I will post it here so people can download it. At some point...
I didnt update in a long time. I am sure nobody missed me...
I was in ISWT (International Student week in Ilmenau) which was fun as well as an extremely interesting learning experience. Check out the pictures in the pictures section.
I also began working for Fujitsu Laboratories of America.
More pictures can be found in the webpage of my Loser friend Rodrigo de Miguel
Good news! My paper, shared with William Arbaugh has been selected for the ICICS'02 to be held on Singapore on December. AN early version of the paper can be found here. The project webpage can be found here.
I also have been working collecting wireless data for different projects. The wireless sniffer I used can be found here. Is far from been complete, but is operational, and is a good example of a sniffer using pcap. Also check may resourse for filtering wireless packets usinl the libpcap LINK primitive here
I went to San Francisco again. I met with people of WindRiver, which was interesting.
And Finally I want to false cape state park. That is probably the coolest place I have been in a loooooong time....
And as a bonus, here are some very small pieces code, but with the singularity that they are always asked in programming interviews... look at them...they are sooooo cute
I finished the first test of the DOS atack against 802.11 networks. It is fairly rudimentary bur really easy. How I did it can be found here. I still need more testing, as the client automatically reassociates with both AP (My fake AP, and the "real" AP. The 1.1 version of popmap is avilable. I cleaned some bugs and extended the mapping capabilities to all the worls (at least, everywhere were mapblast has capabilities).
With Spain out of the world cup because of the Korean conspiration, I have
more time to devote to my projects. My laptop, however, died. So I have to
reinstall everything. The first think I installed is
Kismet, which is a wireless sniffer, probably the
best out there. It also comes with GPSmap, which is a nice network mapper
which I used to create popmap.
Installing Kismet is pretty easy. However you need some patiente and the
right drivers. Some drivers just do not work in monitror mode. In fact,
the lates versions of the cisco mantained drivers have removed monitor
mode. So don't upgrade yet...
In fact In RedHat Linux 7.3 (Valhalla) I little hack is needed to get the
drivers to work in monitor mode:
cp /lib/modules/2.4.18-3/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/airo* ../pcmcia
I will try to put together some informastion of the
installation and usage of kismet.
POPulation MAPper in know part of
FreeGIS.
I am trying to implement the DOS attacks against 802.11 LAN described in here. I am using the software provided by the hostap. The most recent snapshot has a user land daemon that will greatly ease this task
I released the first version of POPulation MAPper. Next week I will create the final release of the Komoku project with the latest patches.
I had a very busy week. I traveled to San Francisco to meet with the folks of instant802. I had a very good time. I found a very interesting paper about hacking the XBOX. And, of course, Spain is in the next round of the World CUP....
Pictures section is up...my egocentrism has no limits
I have finished the projects section and the resume section. I am working on the pictures section. I will try to finish the web today, so I can do other thinks, like watching TV...
I reformated the Webpage. I used wpp for the most of it.
